第一课时
课题:Reading and interaction: Where history comes alive (I)
课时学习目标:
· 学会语篇中专有名词的英语表达;
· 通过略读,了解介绍一座城市的基本要素;
· 通过扫读,了解中西方两座城市的历史地位和主要景点;
· 在自己绘制的思维导图的帮助下,介绍一座城市。
I. Lead-in
Tell one must-see place either in China or around the world and tell what you want to see or do there.
Answers may vary.
II. Pre-reading
1. List some features of a city.
natural landscape, historic and cultural sites, entertainment places, architecture, food …
2. Tell the names of the tourist destinations in Xi’an illustrated in the pictures.
1) 秦始皇兵马俑:the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shihuang
2) 双雁塔:the two Wild Goose Pagodas
3) 大明宫:the remains of the Daming Palace
4) 西安古城墙:the ancient city walls of Xi’an
3. Guess the name of the city with given clues.
Florence, Italy.
III. While reading
1. Skim the whole passage and list what aspects of the two cities are introduced.
importance, historical significance, current development, must-see places
2. Scan the passage of Xi’an to find out the importance and main features of the city.
Xi’an
Importance:
1) the capital of the Tang Dynasty (in the past)
2) the starting point of the Silk Road (in the past)
3) the heart of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (nowadays)
Main Features:
1) many popular tourist destinations such as the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shihuang
2) some historic sites from that time: the two Wild Goose Pagodas and the remains of the Daming Palace
3) an amazing view of the whole city from the ancient city walls
3. Scan the passage of Florence to find out the importance and main features of the city.
Florence
Importance:
1) the birthplace of many amazing ideas and discoveries (in the past)
2) the starting place of the Renaissance (in the past)
3) the great combination of both the old and the new (nowadays)
Main Features:
1) art, science and history museums
2) ancient buildings
3) historic universities
4) the fancy restaurants and high-end shops near the historic sites
