Unit 5 Why do you like pandas? Section A 大熊猫是世界上最珍贵的动物之一，数量十分稀少，属于国家一级保护动物，被誉为“中国国宝”。大熊猫是中国特有物种，现存的主要栖息地在中国四川、陕西等周边山区。 大熊猫体型肥硕似熊，憨态可掬，但头圆尾短，非常可爱。头部和身体毛色绝大多数为黑白相间。 大熊猫憨态可掬的可爱模样深受全球大众的喜爱，在1961年世界自然基金会成立时就以大熊猫为其标志。 据国家林业局2006年的调查，目前全国有野生大熊猫1596只，圈养数量161只。大熊猫是熊科家族中最为珍稀，受到最大生存威胁的哺乳动物之一。 在秦岭山区，除黑白色大熊猫外，还发现过棕色和白色大熊猫。 成年熊猫长约120-190厘米，体重85-125公斤，适应以竹子为食的生活。 大熊猫主食竹子。但是大熊猫属于杂食动物，除了竹子以外非常喜欢吃苹果。也嗜爱饮水，所以大多数大熊猫的家园都设在溪涧流水附近，就近便能畅饮清泉。大熊猫每天至少饮水一次。 在野外，除了睡眠或短距离活动，大熊猫每天取食的时间长达14个小时。一只大熊猫每天进食12-38公斤食物，接近其体重的40%。 The pandas are cute.
