1. There was a lion in the forest. 森林里有一只狮子。该句为“There be…”句型在一般过去式中的用法was 是 is 的过去式；

后面加的名词为复数时，则需使用 There were…句式。

2. You’re so small and weak ! 你如此弱小！

so 作为程度副词，修饰后面的 small and weak

类似的程度副词还有：too/very，放在形容词前面，修饰程度，表示“很，非常”。

形容词变副词

1. 形容词：修饰名词，放在名词前面，最基本的特征：翻译为中文时“…的”。
2. 副词：修饰动词或者形容词，最基本的特征：翻译为中文时“…地”或者常见以 ly 结尾（部分形容词也是副词的情况则不同）

本单元考查最基本的变化形式：

①形容词结尾直接加-ly 变成对应的副词形式

sad 悲伤的 -- sadly 悲伤地 loud 大声的 -- loudly 大声地

②形容词以辅音加 y 结尾，变 y 为 i 再加-ly 变成对应的副词形式happy 高兴的 -- happily 高兴地              lucky 幸运的 -- luckily 幸运地
