How many monkeys are there?
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. There are ten monkeys!

There are eight ducks.
1. —How many monkeys are there?有多少只猴子?
many的意思是“许多”,用来修饰可数名词的复数形式。how many的意思是“多少”,对可数名词的数量进行提问,后面必须跟可数名词的复数形式。
句型:“How many + 可数名词复数 + are there?”
答句: “There is/are + 加基数词 + 可数名词.”

拓展:用来询问事物数量时还可以用句型
“How much +(不可数名词+其他)?”。
其中“how much”的意思是“多少”,后面接不可数名词。
例如:杯子里还有多少牛奶?
How much milk is there in the cup?
2. There are ten monkeys!有十只猴子!
这是there be 句型。there be句型的结构是“There be(is/are)+ 名词”,意思是“某处有(存在)某人或某物”。
当名词是可数名词的单数或不可数名词时,be动词用is;当名词是可数名词的复数时,be动词用are。
例句:There ____ a photo on the wall .
在墙上有一张照片。
There ____ some water on the table .
在桌子上有一些水。

注意:当there be 句型有几个并列主语,此时be动词采取“就近原则”,与最靠近的名词的数保持一致。例如:
