Halloween is said to originate from the Celtic festival called Samhain.
It was celebrated at the end of the harvest season and people would light bonfires and don costumes to scare off ghosts that were said to roam the lands.

Day, celebrated on November 1. The evening before, October 31,
was known as All Hallows’ Evening (also known as All Hallows’ Eve),
