第一讲　井然有序的并列句 并列句是用连词把两个或两个以上的简单句连接起来，这种简单句常被叫做分句。并列句中的各个简单句彼此独立，互不依从，但它们表达的意思之间有一定的关系，通常用并列连词连接起来。并列连词之前可用逗号，也可不用逗号。 1．并列句的构成：分句＋连接词＋分句 I help her and she helps me.我帮她，她帮我。 He is very old but he is in good health. 他年纪大了，但他身体很好。 We must hurry or we'll be late.我们得赶快走，不然就晚了。 This girl did her work carefully so she never made any mistakes.这个姑娘工作认真，从不出差错。 注意：连接并列句常用的连接词有：and, but, or, so, not only... but also, however, neither... nor, either... or, still等。 2．并列分句之间的连接 (1)并列连词and, or, but, 表示联合、选择或转折等不同的关系。如： Mary is going to leave, but I haven't made any decision yet.玛丽也快走了，但是我还没有做出决定。 (2)并列关联连词either... or, neither... nor, not only... but (also)等连接并列分句。如： Neither would I consult him nor would he ask me for advice. 我不想跟他商量，他也不会向我征求意见。 Not only was the room well decorated, but also meal was ready. 不但房间布置好了，饭也准备好了。 (3)副词besides, furthermore, moreover, nevertheless, otherwise, therefore, consequently等也可以起并列连词的作用。如： This place isn't quiet enough for us to stay for a rest, furthermore, it is not shady.这个地方不够安静，不便于我们在此休息，而且也不阴凉。 The coat is too expensive, however, its size suits me. 这件大衣太贵，可是尺寸合适。 I can't come to your tea party ，nevertheless, thank you for your invitation. 我不能来参加你的茶话会，不过，我还是谢谢你的邀请。 (4)．.. while/whereas “……然而，……却” Some of the studies show positive results, whereas others do not. 有一些研究结果令人满意，然而其他的则不然。 (5)祈使句/名词词组＋and/or/otherwise＋陈述句 ①Keep it in mind and gradually we can gain this good learning habit and benefit from it.记住它，我们就能逐渐地养成这个好的学习习惯并从中获益。 ②It is really very dangerous. One more step, and the baby will fall into the well. 真危险。再多迈一步，这个小孩就会掉进井里。 ③Study hard, or/or else/otherwise you will fail in your exams.努力学习，否则你会考试不及格的。 ④More healthy food, or you'll break down sooner or later.多吃健康食品，不然你的身体迟早会垮掉。 (6)．.. when... “……，这时……” ①Sb. was doing sth. when...“某人正在做某事，这时……” We were having a meeting when someone broke in. 我们正在开会，这时有人闯了进来。 ②Sb. was about to do sth. when.../Sb. was on the point of doing sth. when...“某人正要做某事，这时……” I was about to give up when my father
