Functions:
1.Describing forms of literature
Classics(经典作品,名著,杰作) are the antiques of the literary world. They are novels, plays and poems that were written a long time ago and were so well written that people still read them nowadays.
Fiction describes imaginary [ɪˈmædʒɪnəri](虚构的)people and events, not real ones, while non-fiction is true and based on facts.
2. Describing literary people
The novelist Charles Dickens was born in Portsmouth[ˈpɔ:tsməθ] , England in 1812. Oliver [ˈɔlivə] Twist《雾都孤儿》, David Copperfield and Great Expectations《远大前程》are probably his best-known works.
Burns [bɜ:ns] belonged to a group of poets (including John Keats and William Wordsworth [ˈwə:dzwə(:)θ]) called the romantic poets.
