主语从句
A tree has fallen across the road.
You are a student.
To find your way can be a problem.
Smoking is bad for you.
What part does the underlined part serve as in each sentence?
Subject(主语)
“How do you do?” is a greeting.
What she said is not yet known.
That we shall be late is certain.
It is certain that we shall be late.
We can see from these sentences that a sentence serves as subject, so we call it Subject Clause.
Subject Clause 主语从句
一、定义
主语从句是在复合句中充当主语的从句,通常放在主句谓语动词之前;或由形式主语it代替,而本身放在句子末尾。
How the book will sell depends on its author.
It is important that we all should attend the meeting.
二、主语从句的连接词
That he will win is certain.
Whether he’ll join us in the discussion is of great importance.
1. 从属连词:
that:只起引导作用,本身无实际意义,不充当任何成分,但不能省略。
whether:意为“是否”,不充当从句的任何成分。
2. 连接代词who, what, which, whoever, whatever, whichever引导主语从句,包含意思,并在从句中充当成分。
