The World Robot Olympiad
Are you into Legos? How about robots? If you are interested in both, then the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) is perfect for you.
At this big event, teams of young people from different countries compete with others in their age group. There are four competition categories: Regular Category, Open Category, WRO Football and Advanced Robotics Challenge.
Each team tries its best to program and build a robot with Lego Mindstorms bricks. The robots aren’t just for show, though. They have to be able to perform certain tasks in a certain amount of time.
The tasks can be quite difficult. In Regular Category, teams must build their robots in 150 minutes. Then, their robots must solve a set of problems. In Open Category, teams need to create a robot based on a theme. Then they present their robots. Their robots solve real-life problems. The theme changes each year.
WRO Football is the category that everybody loves. Robot teams play football against each other. Every year, little changes are made for this game to motivate young people to keep on developing their robots.
The Advanced Robotics Challenge is the newest competition. The games test older and more experienced students’ engineering and programming skills.
All the games are interesting. If you want to be part of the fun, join the World Robot Olympiad!
