一、要点回顾
1.Going to a British high school for one year was a very enjoyable and exciting experience for me.在英国上了一年的中学对我来说是一段非常令人愉快和兴奋的经历。
[归纳拓展]句中Going to a British high school for one year为动名词短语作主语。动名词具有动词与名词的性质,在句中可充当主语、宾语或表语。
[语境助记]
(1)Leaving the less important things until tomorrow is often acceptable.(2016·全国Ⅱ)
将不太重要的事情留到明天做往往能够让人接受。
(2)I can’t imagine Mary’s marrying such a young man.我无法想象玛丽嫁给这样一个年轻人。
(3)His job is selling newspapers.他的工作是卖报。
2.I found that the homework was not as heavy as what I used to get in my old school.
我发现这里布置的家庭作业不像我在原来学校时那么繁重。
[归纳拓展1]not as (so)...as...是不同级比较句式,意为“和……不一样……,不如……”。其中第一个as为副词,修饰形容词或副词的原级;第二个as为介词。该句式的肯定形式为:as...as...和……一样……
当as...as...中间有名词时,应采用如下格式:as+adj.+n.(复数或不可数)+as...或as+adj.+a/an+n.+as...

(1)Walking on the moon is not as easy as walking on the earth.在月球上行走不如在地球上容易。
(2)Dad didn’t come home as early and as much as he used to.(2015·陕西)
爸爸不像以前回家那么早,回家次数也没有那么多了。
[归纳拓展2]what I used to get是宾语从句,引导词what在从句中作get的宾语。
what引导宾语从句时在从句中可作主语、宾语或表语,表示“所……的……”。

(2)Before I go shopping,I usually make a list of what I really need.在去购物前,我通常会先列一张必需品的清单。
3.Upon finishing his studies,he started travelling in China.学业一结束,他便开始游历中国。[来源:学#科#网]
[归纳拓展]
(1)Upon finishing his studies作时间状语,相当于as soon as引导的时间状语从句。
(2)on或upon后也可接名词,意义和on/upon doing一样都表示“一……就……”。
(3)表示“一……就……”的其他常见词语或结构:immediately,instantly,directly;the instant/moment/minute;no sooner...than,hardly/scarcely...when...。

(1)On/Upon his arrival/arriving,he informed us of the news.他一到达就告诉了我们这个消息。
(2)She burst into laughter the instant she read the letter from her sister.她一看到她妹妹的来信就笑起来了。
