Unit 4 Earthquakes
A 7.0-magnitude earthquake in Sichuan struck at 9:19 PM (local time) on Aug. 8 in 2017 at a depth of 20 km.
It struck the popular tourist destination in Jiuzhaigou County and was followed by another 6.6- magnitude quake in the far northwestern region of Xinjiang province, more than 2,000-km away.
