应用文参考范文:
I’m writing to share with you an exciting painting and calligraphy competition I
participated in last Friday. The event was themed “Celebrating National Day with Art,” and I
contributed a piece that reflects the spirit of the occasion.
For my entry, I created a vibrant landscape painting of the Chinese countryside during the
golden autumn season, with a focus on the harmonious blend of nature and the festive
atmosphere of the National Day. I also incorporated elements of calligraphy and a poem to
speak highly of our nation’s achievements.
Participating in this competition was a profound experience for me. Not only did it allow
me to express my love for my country through art, but also showed the creativity and passion of
my fellow students. It was a joy to see such a diverse array of artistic expressions.
Did you participate in any activities? I am curious about your school life and looking
forward to your early reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
读后续写
Paragraph 1:
With giant tears in her eyes, the little girl looked up at him. She managed a forced smile,
murmuring “Thank you, anyway.” and turned toward the doorway. Suddenly Pappy thought of
2
his estranged daughter. Feeling a lump in his throat, Pappy called out, “How much have you got
to spend, Missy?” Hearing this, the little girl emptied her purse onto the counter—two dollars.
After a quick struggle in his mind. Pappy said, “Today is Christmas Day and this is your lucky
day. The bell costs exactly two dollars.” Holding the special bell close to her chest, the child
danced out.
Paragraph 2:
Later that evening when Pappy was closing up the shop, he heard a familiar ring. He
couldn’t believe his ears! There in the doorway stood the little girl, ringing the bell and smiling
sweetly. Puzzled, Pappy approached her. “Have you changed your mind, little lady?” “No,” the
child grinned, “Momma says the present is for you.” Before Pappy had time to say another word,
the child’s mother stepped in. Holding back her tears, she gently said, “Hello, Dad!”

(Text 1)
M: Cassie, I’m sorry. I thought I’d set my alarm clock, but I didn’t hear it ring!
W: Oh, no, John, Ashley’s birthday party is going to start in a few minutes. Let’s hurry up and
get there.
(Text 2)
W: How do you feel about my friend Allan’s art show last night?
M: Yeah, it was... fun.
W: What about his paintings?
M: They were... Um, actually they were terrible. I hated them.
(Text 3)
W: David, are you coming to Dr. Andrew’s lecture tomorrow?
M: Of course! I will be there.
W: You know, you also said you were coming to my Paint My Kitchen Party, but you didn’t.
(Text 4)
W: The boss just told me the company is fine and only cutting a few jobs.
M: How is that supposed to make me feel better? Steve just got fired today.
W: Sounds like he is trying to hide the truth.
(Text 5)
W: Yesterday I had dinner with Josh and his sister Sara.
M: Um... what did you think?
W: She is really rude. She actually shouted at the waiter in the restaurant for bringing her the
wrong dish. Josh just doesn’t see how unpleasant she is.
(Text 6)
M: Can I help you?
3
W: Yes, have you got this T- shirt in other colours?
M: We’ve got it in white, black, red and purple. What size do you want?
W: Medium.
M: OK, in medium we’ve got black and red.
W: And in purple?
M: No, just black and red.
W: OK, red. Can I try it on?
M: Yes, of course. The changing rooms are over there.
(Text 7)
M: I don’t know what to do. I start off studying but I always end up doing something else.
W: I’ll help you but please listen to me. You need to take away all of the things that stop you
working.
M: What do you mean?
W: First, turn off your music. Music doesn’t help you study. And put the dog outside!
M: What?
W: Well, every time the dog goes into your room, you stop studying to touch it.
M: OK. Bye, my dog!
W: Have an apple and a glass of water on your desk before you start. Here you are.
M: Why?
W: Because then you don’t need to go to the kitchen for something to eat or drink. And turn off
your phone. It stops you working.
M: OK, but I can’t turn off the Internet on my computer. I need it to look up information.
W: OK, but you can turn off your messages.
(Text 8)
W: Hi, Dad. Did you have a good day at work?
M: Same as usual, really. What about you? Good day at school?
W: Yeah, pretty good. Except for one little thing...
M: What’s the matter?
W: Do you remember you lent me your phone?
M: Yes?
W: Well, I was standing just outside school, texting Jack, and somebody ran past and stole it.
M: You let someone steal my phone?
W: I didn’t let them.
M: No, I suppose not. But did you know that might happen? Was that a dangerous spot?
W: Well, I had heard of that happening, but I’d forgotten. Anyway, I didn’t think it would
happen to me.
M: Did you see who it was?
W: No. It was someone in a blue tracksuit, and there were loads of people who wore those. But
4
there’s a CCTV camera on the entrance. It might have got a shot of the thief’s face.
M: You reported it then?
W: Well, not yet, but I will tomorrow.
M: All right. Don’t forget to report it tomorrow. I’ll have a look at the insurance and see if it’s
covered.
(Text 9)
W: Hi, Mario. Can you help me prepare some things for the next month?
M: OK, sure.
W: I need to visit the customers in Germany. It’s important.
M: What can I do to help?
W: Can you send an email to the customers? Ask them when I can visit them next week. Please
do this first. It’s very urgent.
M: Right. I’ll do it today.
W: Thanks. This next task is also important. Can you invite everyone to the next team meeting?
M: Yes, I will.
W: But first you need to book a meeting room. After that, please send everyone an email about
it.
M: Yes, of course.
W: And finally, can you write a short report about our new project? I have to give a presentation
to our managers next month. Please do it when you have time— sometime in the next two or
three weeks. It’s not too urgent.
M: Sure, no problem. I can do it this week.
W: There’s no hurry. Take your time.
(Text 10)
M: Good morning, everyone. Welcome to Belfast, one of the youngest capital cities in the
world. In the 17th century, it was only a village. Then during the 19th century, the development
of industries like rope- making, engineering, and tea trade doubled the town’s size every ten
years. The city is well known for its shipbuilding. It was here that the “Titanic” was built.
Here is your brief tour around Belfast. This morning you will visit City Hall. This
afternoon, you will visit the zoo and this evening, you will go to a concert at Ulster Hall.
Tomorrow morning, you will visit the Ulster Museum and see the gold treasure of the 16th-
century Spanish warship. In the afternoon, you will go to the Botanic Gardens and you will
walk among rare plants. And then you will visit the Palm House. You will have a free evening
so you can go to some local pubs. You can enjoy some Irish folk music there. Next morning at
10, you will fly back to London. I hope you will enjoy the two- day tour. Thanks.

There are many kinds of jobs in the world, and if people can’t find their ideal job, they can
always create one. Molly Lewis did just that by becoming a professional whistler, joining a very
small and unique group.
Shane O’Neill writes in the Washington Post, “If you’re a comedian, at some point you’ve
gotten the frightening ‘Tell me a joke!’ from a stranger. If you think that’s bad, try being a
professional whistler. ‘It happens all the time,’ said Molly Lewis with a smile. ‘Sometimes I’ll
oblige.’”
Lewis released her first album, On the Lips, in February, hoping to raise the profile (形象)
of whistling. “People often don’t have a reference for whistle music apart from a jingle or a riff
in a bad pop song,” Lewis said. “I think it’s a beautiful instrument.”
People are starting to notice. Her whistled cover of Billie Eilish’s What Was I Made For?
appeared in the Barbie movie, both in a scene and during the credits.
Lewis brings depth and nuance ( 细 微 差 别 ) to a form that is usually cheerful or
absent-minded. She acknowledges the novelty of what she does but remains inspired by artists
like Marty & Elayne, a husband-and-wife lounge duo with a cult following in Los Angeles.
“They played for 37 years, five nights a week, and it was very special and beautiful,” Lewis
said.
Lewis learned to whistle at four but didn’t take her talent seriously until she saw Pucker
Up, a 2005 documentary about competitive whistling. She attended the International Whistlers
Convention in 2012 and has performed in music clubs ever since.
Starting in 2017, Lewis performed a series of shows called Café Molly at Zebulon,
attracting notable figures like John C. Reilly, Karen O, and Mac DeMarco. On tour, she aims to
create an atmosphere of elegant sophistication, a vibe (氛围) she hopes to bring home with On
the Lips.
24. What does the underlined word “oblige” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. Agree. B. Decline. C. Promise. D. Ignore.
25. What did Lewis intend to do with her first album?
A. To stress the role of whistling. B. To get whistling recognized.
C. To give credit for a movie. D. To attract media attention.
26. What did Lewis think of the husband-and-wife lounge duo?
A. They are discouraged. B. They are depressed.
C. They are committed. D. They are stressed.
27. How did Pucker Up affect Lewis?
A. It recognized her talent as a whistler. B. It earned her international reputation.
5
C. It gave her easy access to music clubs. D. It deepened her devotion to whistling.

Nate had recently transferred to our school. Before he joined my class, I was informed by
the headteacher that he used a wheelchair. I learned that when he was three, Nate had undergone
amputations (截肢) of his legs.
One morning, I noticed that Nate’s seat was empty in the classroom. The headteacher told
me that he was in the hospital for a regular surgery. I called Nate’s mother to ask if it would be
alright to visit him in the hospital. She expressed gratitude, saying that Nate talked about me
often. After school, I made my way to the hospital. As he saw me, his face lit up, his eyebrows
raising sharply and his mouth forming a small ‘O’ of disbelief. A few days later, he was
discharged and returned to school.
Unfortunately, just as Nate was about to start year three, Nate’s mom couldn’t currently
look after him, and he’d been put in foster care (寄养 ). His social worker Jackie said Nate’s
foster home was a three-hour round trip to school. I worried about how it would affect his
learning, and the doctors were concerned about him missing medical appointments too.
Desperate to help, I thought: Maybe I could foster him?
“I’ll have to ask Nate if he’d prefer to live with you,” Jackie explained. She called me from
the hospital and put Nate on the phone.
“I’m coming to live with you!” he said and I burst into happy tears. I rushed to the hospital
where nurses took me through his daily medication, and all the appointments he’d need to
attend. It was demanding, but I was determined to rise to the challenge.
Nate’s 10 now. Although he’ll always have health issues, he’s such a positive boy and I feel
honored to be his mom. I may have started out as Nate’s teacher, but he’s the one who taught me
an incredible lesson—how to be a parent.
28. How was Nate feeling when he saw the author in the hospital?
A. Worried. B. Satisfied. C. Upset. D. Surprised.
29. What made the author decide to adopt Nate?
A. The suggestion of Nate’s social worker.
B. The inconvenience of Nate’s living in the foster home.
C. The thirst of the author’s husband for a child.
D. The unexpected illness of Nate’s mother.
30. What can we infer from the last two paragraphs?
A. Nate inspired the author while living with her.
B. Nate was pessimistic about his recovery.
C. Nate hesitated to accept the adoption.
D. Nate got deeply troubled by the daily medication.
31. What is the best title for the text?
A. Parenting: A Lifelong Career
6
B. A Sympathetic Bond Beyond the Classroom
C. Love: An Unconditional Acceptance
D. AMoving Experience on the Wheelchair

Wendell Berry was almost 30 when he, as a New York intellectual, moved to Port Royal, a
tiny community in Kentucky where generations of his forebears (祖先) had farmed the land. His
friends thought he was mad. But he felt it was his inner calling to record the history of the place.
Since moving to Port Royal in 1964, he has lived as if he were in the 19th century, writing
by hand and ploughing his fields with horses. His eight novels and more than 50 short stories
are usually set in Port William, a stand-in (代替物 ) for Port Royal. Nick Offerman, an actor,
wanted to adapt his work for the screen. However, the actor was refused.
In Mr Berry’s opinion, humans must take care of the earth that grants them life. “The soil
is the greatest connector of lives,” he has written. “Without proper care for it we can have no
community.” This philosophy dominates his writings. In The Unsettling of America, published
in 1977, Mr Berry criticized the natural damage caused by large agribusinesses. He thinks
capitalism has separated farming from culture and disconnected people from nature.
Mr Berry’s fiction explores the decline of values by following Port William’s
interconnected clans (家族 ) as they enter the modern age. In Dismemberment, a short story,
Andy Catlett loses a hand to a harvesting machine and becomes a loner. He sees his withdrawal
is mistaken and reconnects with the town, finding “the wealth of an intimate history” in
belonging to “his ancestral place”. In Hannah Coulter, Mr Berry’s seventh novel, the main
character Hannah Coulter grows old after a sad life and anticipates loneliness when her children
leave to find work in the city. Instead her hope is restored when her grandson returns to run the
farm.
These stories offer insightful advice for readers living through ecological disaster. Though
few can return to farming basics, Mr Berry’s messages of building communities, being a good
neighbor and resisting the invitation of modern life are still valuable.
32.Why did Mr Berry’s friends think he was mad?
A. He wrote most of his novels by hand.
B. He turned down Offerman’s request.
C. He moved to live in the countryside.
D. He gave up his interest in writing.
33. What do Mr Berry’s writings often imply?
A. The challenges of farming in old days.
B. The hard lives of his forebears in Kentucky.
C. The real benefits of large agribusinesses.
D. The harmony between man and nature.
34. What do Andy Catlett and Hannah Coulter have in common?
A. They are from the same novel.
7
B. They both find their values again.
C. They are victims of country life.
D. They both choose to live alone.
35. What does Mary mean in the last sentence of the text?
A. Discover why Wendell Berry’s stories shine
B. Wendell Berry: a strong voice for modern farming
C. Wendell Berry: a rural writer living a modern life
D. Find out how Wendell Berry adapts to new environments
第二节(共 5小题,每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为
多余选项。
In today’s fast-paced world, where screen time is a fact of life, the thought of taking your
kids to an art gallery—and them actually enjoying the experience—might seem a thankless and
impossible challenge. __36__ Surely a child won’t have the patience to stare at something
outside the screen.
In fact, art galleries serve as invaluable educational and instructional resources. They invite
young viewers to interpret and connect with the artwork on a personal level. This exposure not
only broadens their artistic horizons but also encourages them to appreciate different ways of
seeing the world. So art galleries are packed with nutrition for mind, heart, and soul. But many
kids are picky eaters, and take galleries as appetizing as yesterday’s porridge (稀饭). __37__
Allow your children to fit in on their own terms. Who said that walking around a gallery
had to be slow and methodical, stopping to look at every picture? __38__ If they want to head
straight for a certain display, it’s no big deal. If something catches their eye on the other side of
the room, far away from the Picasso or Constable in the spotlight, that’s absolutely fine.
While it might sound like I’m not being an art enthusiast, the particular work of art is
simply not important. What really matters is that children build a connection with art. __39__
Involve older children, either with or without a reward, in simple quizzes such as, “Who can
guess the artist?” or, “Who can identify the period it was made?”
__40__ Ask questions such as, “What exhibit did you find most exciting or boring?” or,
“How did that painting make you feel?” and discuss your different impressions of the same
works. As an added bonus, it will deepen the connection between you and your children. By
taking this approach, art is no longer dull but something alive and relevant to young people, and
even a rewarding and fascinating pursuit that will last a lifetime.
A. You can make it into a game.
B. How can they find enjoyment?
C. It always enhances their interest.
D. Instead, let them control the pace (步速).
8
E. Talk to children in the language of emotions as this also works.
F. Limiting your visit to 45 minutes is perfect for stopping boredom.
G. After all, galleries are for quiet reflection and observation, right?

第二节(满分 13 分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It was Christmas Day. Pappy was working alone fixing an old lantern in the back room
when he heard the ring of his bell on the shop door. The bell, which produced a uniquely
pleasant sound, had been in Pappy’s family for over a hundred years. He valued it dearly and
enjoyed sharing its song with all who came to his shop. Although the bell was hung on the
inside of the main door, Pappy had tied a wire to the screen door so that it would ring whether
the inner door was open or not. Hearing the bell, he left the back room to greet his customer.
“And how can I help you, little lady ? ” Pappy’s voice was joyful.
“Hello, sir.” The little girl spoke almost in a whisper. She looked at Pappy with her big
brown eyes, and then slowly scanned the room in search of something special. Shyly she told
him, “I’d like to buy a present, sir.”
“Well, let’s see,” Pappy said. “ Who is this present for ?”
11
“My grandpa. It’s for my grandpa. But I don’t know what to get.”
Pappy began to make suggestions.“How about a pocket watch? It’s in good condition.”
The little girl didn’t answer. She had walked to the doorway and put her small hand on the door.
She shook the door gently to ring the bell. Pappy’s face seemed to glow as he saw her smiling
with excitement. “ This is just right,” the little girl said. “Momma says my grandpa loves
music.”
Just then, Pappy’s expression changed. Fearful of breaking the little girl’s heart, he told her,
“I’m sorry, Missy. That’s not for sale. Maybe your grandpa would like this little radio.”
The girl looked at the radio, bowed her head, and sadly sighed, “ No, I don’t think so.”
In an effort to help her understand, Pappy told her that the bell had been his only
companion, for the rest of his family were all gone now, except for his estranged (疏远的 )
daughter whom he had not seen for nearly a decade.
